French lady who went missing traced to Paharganj hotel

New Delhi, March 1 (UNI) The Delhi police have traced a French lady who went missing early this morning, after her arrival as part of a French group, to a Paharganj hotel.

French women Lemonneir Edith, who arrived at IGI airport early this morning in a group of 17 French citizens on a sight seeing tour to India, was found missing when the group reached Regent hotel in Karol Bagh. A search of the airport did not elicit any result following which the Group leader Simone Elizabeth lodged a complaint with the police this morning.

Following the complaint, 50 teams of the Delhi police fanned out in the Paharganj and the Karol bagh area indulging in a "hotel-to-hotel" The lady was traced to a Hotel Lord in Paharganj.

Apparently, the French women had got left behind as she was busy exchanging currency.

Left alone and without any means of contacting her group members, she thought of the idea of booking herself in a hotel in Paharganj so that she could try to contact her group members at the New Delhi station where they were to take a train for Pathankot and thereafter leave for Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh this evening.

Villager convicted for abusing tribal

Bilaspur, Mar 1 (UNI) A local court has sentenced six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000 to a villager for abusing and insulting a tribal. Special Judge Mahendra Rathore yesterday convicted Narmada Prasad, a resident of Pendra police station area, for abusing and insulting Dooman Singh Gond for being a tribal after the latter failed to return a harmonium on February 5 last year. Srinagar, Mar 1 (UNI) A woman committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance while body of another woman was recovered in the Kashmir valley today, a police spokesman said. He said Police Station Ganderbal recovered body of one Parveena Akther, daughter of Din Mohammad Khatana, resident of Darsum Manigam.
