Formation of Electricity Regulatory Board soon:Kamat

Ahmednagar, Mar 1 (UNI) The Union Government has decided to form an Electricity Regulatory Board for Goa, Pondicherry, Diu-Daman and New Delhi and the announcement will be made next week, Goa Power Minister Digamber Kamat said here today.

He was addressing reporters after visiting the Saibaba temple at Shirdi.

Timely completion of the Enron power project at Dabhol would have prevented the present power crisis in Maharashtra. Due to the power crisis, many industries in the state, known as one of the 'progressive' states in the country, were either closed or shifted to other states, Mr Kamat said.

In Goa, there is only 14 per cent power theft and four per cent power wastage and efforts are on to reduce it, he added.

The plan for a cultural policy is ready and Goa is the first state to implement it. The Union Planning Commission has issued orders for all other states to implement it as per the Goa model, Mr Kamat added.
