Ekka made new IG (Prison)

Ranchi, Mar 1 (UNI) The Jharkhand government today appointed Additional Secretary (Welfare) Karn alias Ekka as new IG (Prison).

Earlier in the day, Mr Sarvendu Tathagat, Additional Secretary (Home), had been given additional charge of IG (Prison).

Special secretary to HRD Sailesh Kumar Singh was transferred to rural development in the same capacity.

Agartala, Mar 1 (UNI) In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Border Security Forces detained two hardcore terrorists who surrendered before the 15 Assam Rifles at Teliamura on February 27, official sources said. Detainees Biraha Kumar Jamatia alias Yakharia of All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) and Geeta Tripura alias Kaplop of National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) deposited two 38 factory-made revolvers along with six live rounds of 38 ball ammunitions. Fire leaves nine families homeless in Dimapur

Kohima, Mar 01 (UNI) At least nine families were rendered homeless after a big fire broke out and spread to a dozen houses in the Duncan Basti area of Dimapur last night. Official sources said that the fire broke out in a thatched house last night. The fire engulfed the house and soon spread to the surrounding houses as well.
