Chennai, Mar 1 (UNI) Bose Corporation, a well-known audio technology developer and product manufacturer, has introduced 'Companion 5 multimedia speaker system' for computer users.

With one simple USB connection, the system would turn the computer into a complete entertainment hub, delivering today's multi-channel audio content from just two visible speakers and a hideaway acoustimass module, company Corporate Communication Executive Nandita Sood told a press conference here.

Priced at Rs 21,900, the new system required no software installation, no sound card upgrade, no adapters or complicated wiring for set up. With plug and play simplicity, it created a desktop theatre, providing much of the performance of a fully wired five-speaker system, she added.

The companion 5 system was compatible with both PC and Mac platforms. For the best performance, Bose recommended Windows XP or later for PC users and OS X 10.4.6 or later for Mac users, she said.

The company had also updated the Companion 3 and Companion 2 multimedia speaker systems. While the Companion 3 system, designed for premium stereo performance, came with newly designed speakers, the Companion 2 system, offering a simple yet high quality speaker upgrade for computers or portable players, had also been refreshed with a new speaker design.
