BMC inspector remanded to police custody till March 8

Mumbai, Mar 1 (UNI) A Special ACB court today remanded to police custody till March 8 suspended senior inspector of shop and establishment department of BMC, Hanumant Pawar in a bribery case.

Pawar was produced before the Additional Session Court Judge (Ms) S S Joshi here this morning, who remanded him to police custody.

Pawar was trapped last evening by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in his office situated at N-ward, Ghatkopar in eastern suburbs while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from complainant, a canteen owner for renewal of his 'Gumsta' license. The complainant was supposed to renew the license before December 31 last year but had failed.

The accused had demanded Rs 15,000 from the complainant and was caught while accepting the first instalment amount of Rs 1,000.

A search at his house led to the recovery of Rs 28,000.

Literary boards should try for 'Pan Literature' movement: Sadhu

CR trains delayed by 45 minutes due to technical snag

Mumbai, Mar 2 (UNI) Three lines of suburban local trains of the Central Railway (CR) were disrupted for about 45 minutes between Kurla and Mulund due to a technical snag today, a railway spokesperson said. Nagpur Mayor restrained from nominating co-opted members

Nagpur, Mar 2 (UNI) The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has restrained the Mayor from nominating five co-opted members to the general body of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and has fixed March seven as the date for the final hearing.
