Bellary records highest temperature 36.7 degree celsius

Bangalore, Mar 1 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hours today.

Rainfall occurred at isolated places over South Interior Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka.

Maximum temperatures changed little over the State. They were above normal at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and normal over Interior Karnataka.

Bellary recorded highest maximum temperature of 36.7 degree Celsius over the State.

Minimum temperatures fell at a few places over Interior Karnataka and changed little over Coastal Karnataka. They were appreciably below normal at many places over North Interior Karnataka; however above normal at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and normal over Coastal Karnataka.

Agumbe recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 8.0 degree celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until Saturday morning: Mainly dry weather may prevail over South Interior Karnataka and dry weather may prevail over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Mainly dry weather may prevail over Chamarajnagara, Mysore, Kodagu, Chikmagalur districts. Dry weather may prevail over all the remaining districts of the State.

Forecast for Bangalore: Mainly clear sky. Maximum and Minimum temperature would be around 33 and 18 degree celsius respectively.

BSNL K'taka circle targets 2.5 lakh mobile connections by month-end

Bangalore, Mar 2 (UNI) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Karnataka circle has set a target of providing 2.5 lakh mobile connections by March this year, BSNL Bangalore Telecom District Principal General Manager S Ramalingam said today. Addressing a press conference here, he said the PSU had invested over Rs 300 crore during 2006-07 to expand its capabilities, including setting up Base Transmission Stations across the State. BSNL Karnataka had set up over 1,400 such stations to improve its mobile services.....

KERC releases 'Harnessing Captive Power Generation' order

Bangalore, Mar 2 (UNI) Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission has come out with an order on 'Harnessing Captive Power Generation' as per a direction of the National Electricity Policy and Tariff Policy of the Union Government. The salient feature of the order, issued by KERC on February 27, was that it was applicable to all Captive Power Plants in the State, who were willing to supply power of one MW and above to distribution licensees (ESCOMs), according to a release here.....

Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) The Maulana Azad Madhya Pradesh Woman and Child Development Minister Kusum Singh Mehdele took back her statements made against a legislator in the Assembly after Speaker Ishwardas Rohani's intervention. Mr Rampyare Kulaste (BJP) raised the matter of irregularities during appointment Anganwadi workers during the Question Hour.
