Assembly session from March 14, budget on March 20

Mumbai, Mar 1 (UNI) The budget session of Maharashtra legsilature will start from March 14 and the budget will be tabled on March 20, Parliamentary affairs minister Harshwardhan Patil here said.

The budget will be presented in both the houses at 1400 hrs, an official release said today.

There will be 15 bills tabled in the house, Mr Patil said, adding that all have agreed to have six hour business every day.

The sitting of Legislative Assembly and Council from Tuesday to Thursday will commence from 1100 hrs and 1200 hrs, respectively.

HC declines to enhance entry age to nursery

New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) Declining to enhance the entry age for nursery admissions, the Delhi High Court today referred the issue to the Ganguly Committee. Industry threatens closure if mining export duty not withdrawn

Panaji, Mar 1 (UNI) Goa's iron ore export industry, the second largest foreign exchange earner after tourism, has threatened to close down if the Centre does not withdraw the Rs 300 per metric tonne export duty proposed in the Budget 2007-08. ''We have already cancelled five China-bound vessels today under the impact of the budget. SC dismisses Karan Pandher's transfer petition

New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition filed by Karan Deep Singh Pandher, son of main accused Moninder Singh Pandher in the Nithari rape and murder case, seeking transfer of his father's case from Ghaziabad court to a Delhi court. A Bench comprising Justice B N Agarwal and Justice P P Naolekar dismissed the petition on the ground that the investigation by CBI was yet to be completed and it is premature to transfer the case.....
