All arrangements made for SSC, Inter exams: Collector

Chittoor, Mar 1 (UNI) All arrangements had been made for the conduct of the SSC and Intermediate examinations in Chittoor district, according to district Collector S S Rawath here today.

As many as 61,828 students, including 48,383 regular, 10,426 private and 3,019 vocational course candidates will be writing this year's SSC examinations, from March 21 to April 4 while 40,357 students would appear for the junior Inter exam and 31,657 students for the senior Inter comprising regular and private candidates, beginning on March 3.

There would be 270 examination centres this year. Of this, 214 were for regular candidates. Eleven flying squards for SSC exams and four flying squads for Intermediate would be deployed in the district, he added.

Estate Employees Association volunteers arrested

Puducherry, Mar 1 (UNI) About 52 volunteers of the Industrial Estate Employees Association, affiliated to the CITU, were arrested today when they tried to picket the labour office here to press their demands. Their demands included immediate transfer of the Labour Mediatory Officer, alleging that he was an 'anti-labourer' taking unilateral decisions which would benifit the industry owners. More than 5 lakh students to appear for SSLC exams in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 1 (UNI) As many as 5,05,201 students will be appearing in this year's SSLC examinations, commencing on March 14. Of this 2,31,569 candidates are girls. The total number of candidates in the SC/ST category, who have registered for the examination was 47,568, Kerala Education Minister M A Baby told reporters here today. Aircel tests 3G technology, readies for launch

Chennai, Mar 1 (UNI) Leading mobile service provider in the state, Aircel in association with Maxis Communications Malaysia has successfully tested '3G Readiness' in the city. The 3G trials were conducted with ZTE corporation. ''Having successfully completed 3G trials at Chennai in accordance with the 3G-PP standards and the guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications, Aircel is now ready to roll out 3G-based services,'' CEO Aircel Jagadish told mediapersons here today.
