2 policemen held for fake encounter

Etah, Mar 1 (UNI) Two police personnel were arrested for killing two youths in a fake encounter a decade back in this district of Uttar Pradesh.

On October 12, 2005, police had gunned down two villagers -- Ram Bharose and Ramveer -- in the encounter in Kuda village under Kotwali police station area.

Later, the deceased's family members lodged an FIR against 19 persons, including 15 policemen.

The truth about the fake encounter was surfaced after the UP CBCID investigated the case and found that the Kotwali Police was involved in the killing.

Yesterday, police nabbed two accused sub-inspector Indrapal Singh Solanki, presently deployed in Arnia police station of Bulandshahr and a retired cop Krishna Pawar.

Meanwhile, a search operation for 17 accussed, including 13 police personnel, was on.

Srinagar, Mar 1 (UNI) A woman committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance while body of another woman was recovered in the Kashmir valley today, a police spokesman said. He said Police Station Ganderbal recovered body of one Parveena Akther, daughter of Din Mohammad Khatana, resident of Darsum Manigam. 10 kg heroin seized in Punjab

Amritsar, Mar 1 (UNI) The Special Narcotics Cell of the Punjab Police today seized 10 kg heroin worth Rs 10 crore in the international market this morning. Giving details, Narcotics Cell SP Makhan Singh said that the seizure was made on the bases of intelligence outputs from near B-Division police station in the city.
