2 policemen held for fake encounter

Etah, Mar 1 (UNI) Two police personnel were arrested for killing two youths in a fake encounter a decade back in this district of Uttar Pradesh.

On October 12, 2005, police had gunned down two villagers -- Ram Bharose and Ramveer -- in the encounter in Kuda village under Kotwali police station area.

Later, the deceased's family members lodged an FIR against 19 persons, including 15 policemen.

The truth about the fake encounter was surfaced after the UP CBCID investigated the case and found that the Kotwali Police was involved in the killing.

Yesterday, police nabbed two accused sub-inspector Indrapal Singh Solanki, presently deployed in Arnia police station of Bulandshahr and a retired cop Krishna Pawar.

Meanwhile, a search operation for 17 accussed, including 13 police personnel, was on.

Bilaspur, Mar 1 (UNI) A local court has sentenced six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000 to a villager for abusing and insulting a tribal. Srinagar, Mar 1 (UNI) A woman committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance while body of another woman was recovered in the Kashmir valley today, a police spokesman said.
