VED welcomes emphasis on agriculture, irrigation in budget

Nagpur, Feb 28 (UNI) Vidarbha Economic Development Council (VED), a city-based voluntary organisation working for the development of Vidarbha region in Maharashtra, has welcomed the emphasis on agriculture, water, irrigation and seed development in the Union Budget.

In a statement issued here today, VED said, ''The budget allocation for textile parks, incentives for agro and food processing industries and incentives to the small scale industries mean a great opportunity for these units in Vidarbha, which has a potential for all of these,'' the statement said.

The enhanced allocation for tourism infrastructure would ensure Central assistance for development of tourism in Vidarbha, the statement added.
