Vardhman to knit thread businesses with group co

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Vardhman Textiles Ltd today announced plans to merge its sewing thread businesses and group firm Vardhman Threads Ltd into one subsidiary, at a cost of Rs 260 crore.

The proposal includes vesting of the sewing thread business, including thread units at Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana in Punjab, Perundurai in Tamil Nadu, alongwith the spinning unit at Hoshiarpur, in the company's subsidiary, Vardhman Yarns&Threads Ltd (VYTL).

The cost has been arrived based on the valuation done by ICICI Securities Ltd.

The plan also envisages merger of the threads undertaking of Vardhman Threads Ltd (VTL) with VYTL.

ICICI Securities has also suggested a swap ratio of one share of Vardhaman Textiles for every two shares of VTL.

The scheme is subject to the requisite approval of the shareholders and creditors of the company, VTL and VYTL, High Court of Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh and other authorities.

The company's Board of Directors have accorded their approvals to both the schemes.

CBSE class X, XII exams from tom; 12.07 lakh pupils to appea

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to conduct the twelfth and tenth standard examinations from tomorrow, for which more than 12.07 lakh pupils will appear across the country. For the twelfth standard examination, which will be held from March 1 to April 10, about 5,02,688 students, including 2,11,582 girls, will appear. The number has registered an increase of 9.59 per cent compared to last year, when 4,54,480 candidates wrote the examination. More.....

Patel welcomes reduction in ATF duties for regional jets

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Civil aviation minister Praful Patel today welcomed the budget for 2007-08 which has proposed duty reduction on air turbine fuel (ATF) on smaller new generation aircraft to keep in tune with turboprop aircraft. ''It will truly give fillip to connecting smaller towns and cities,'' he said. FM failed to come out with a bold budget: Sinha

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Stating that the budget was a huge disappointment for the ''aam admi'' and kisans, the BJP today said Finance Minister P Chidambaram had missed a golden opportunity to come out with bold concessions when things were going good excepting the inflation. Former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha said the Finance Minister should have been bold enough to offer concessions when the revenue receipts were good and the country had a foreign exchange reserves of 180 billion.....
