Union budget against common man: Arjun Munda

Ranchi, Feb 28 (UNI) Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Arjun Munda today described the Union Budget as 'anti-people' saying it would fail to control inflation and price hike.

The budget not only disappointed the farmers and labourers, it was also against the unemployed sector and backward classes, Mr Munda said.

Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram had not taken concrete steps to check the spiralling prices and inflation, he said.

The growth of agricultural sector was not satisfactory in the last three years, Mr Munda added.

Mr Munda said despite having the richest mineral and herbal resources, Jharkhand remained neglected and no special provision was made for the state as mentioned for eastern states.

Keonjhar bandh to protest attack on Congress MLA

Bhubaneswar, Feb 28 (UNI) A dawn to dusk bandh was observed in Keonjhar district of Orissa today to protest the attack on Congress MLA from Champua Dhanurjaya Sidhu near Badbil on Monday night. Indian Judiciary 'Absolutely Free' : Law Minister

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Judiciary in India is absolutely free and the Law and Justice Ministry has no say in its functioning, a visiting Afghan delegation was told today. MLA Gopal Roy demands judicial inquiry into appointment of teachers

Agartala, Feb 28 (UNI) Congress leader and MLA Gopal Roy today demanded a judicial inquiry into the appointment of 14 teachers here at Mahatma Gandhi higher secondary school between November 20 and December 2 last year.
