Truck-jeep collision kills 5

Maharajganj, Feb 28 (UNI) At least five youths were killed and eight others severely injured after a speeding truck collided head-on with a jeep here this evening.

Police said the mishap took place in Farenda village, where a truck rammed into a jeep, killing five youths on the spot.

The grievously injured were rushed to hospital, where they were sent to Gorakhpur Medical college for treatment.

The deceased were identified as Ravi Srivastava, Nanhe Singh, Dinesh Yadav, Jazi Prakash Yadav and Shatrughan Singh.

The bodies have been sent for autopsy.

Mixed reaction on budget in AP CII Chapter

Hyderabad, Feb 28 (UNI) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Andhra Pradesh Chapter today expressed 'happiness' for allocating more funds to education and Agriculture in the Union Budget 2007-08, presented by unioin Finance minister P Chaidamabaram, and took exception for inadequate allocations to infrastructre sectors. Speaking to newsmen here, CII AP chapter President G Vivekanand pointed out that the Finance minister has reduced the CST to four to three per cent even after the CII urged him to reduce to two.....

TRS forces adjournment of House on Krishna waters to city

Hyderabad, Feb 28 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh assembly was adjourned for 15 minutes without taking up question hour as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) members sought a debate on their adjournment motion on completion of the third phase of Krishna waters to the twin cities and also diversion of Godavari waters. Union budget disappointing: K'taka Industry Minister

Bangalore, Feb 28 (UNI) Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu today felt that the central budget was 'very disappointing' and said it showed the Centre's failure in tackling people's problems. Reacting on the budgetary proposals for the year 2007-08, Mr Naidu said that going by the proposals, it would be difficult to achieve the proposed target rate of 9.2 per cent GDP growth, while the budget was silent on power sector.
