TNAU welcomes Budget allocation

Coimbatore, Feb 28 (UNI) Tami Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) Vice Chancellor Dr C Ramasamy today said the university welcomed special allocation of Rs 50 crore to the TNAU in the union budget.

Talking to UNI here, he said the University had submitted a proposal for 20 projects, which include various infrastructural facilities, to the Union Finance Ministry about three months back.

They had sought a grant of Rs 100 crore for these projects.

The ministry, realising the importance of these projects has now allocated Rs 50 crore in this budget, he added.

Dr Ramasamy said with the allocated grants, important projects like setting up a Red Soil research center at Sivaganga district, Research on Nano Technology in agriculture and research on Post Harvest Technology would be iniiated.

He further said overall Budget was balanced and the Finance Minister had given more focus to agricultural sector by giving more subsidy for fertilizers to help the farmers.

HC allows hotels to charge more for a water bottle

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today held that a hotel or restaurant could charge more than the maximum retail price (MRP) for a bottle of mineral water from a costumer. City college sings MOU

Coimbatore, Feb 28 (UNI) The city-based Nehru college of Aeronautics and Applied Sciences here signed an MoU with Hochschule Bremen, University of Applied Sciences, Bremen in Germany today. The MoU was signed by the P K Das, Director of the Nehru College and German University Deputy vice chancellor Prof Dr Uwe. INCB concerned at illegal cultivation of cannabis plants

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) has expressed concern at illegal cultivation of 'cannabis' in parts of India and Sri Lanka, in addition to the psychotropic plant growing wild in a number of South Asian countries including Nepal.
