Tax holiday for undertakings in J

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidambaram today extended the tax holiday for undertakings in Jammu and Kashmir by another five years upto March 31,2012. The step is aimed at promoting further investment in the state, Mr Chidambaram said while presenting the 2007-08 Budget in the Lok Sabha.

Cross country natural gas distribution network, including gas pipeline and storage facility integrated to the network, and navigation channel in the sea have been included in list of infrastructure facilities that are entitled to tax concessions under Section 80IA of the Income Tax Act.

5-year tax holiday for star hotels in Delhi and adjoining areas

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) In order to promote infrastructure facilities in the National Capital Region (NCR) ahead of the Commonwealth Games in 2010, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram today proposed a five-year holiday from income tax for two, three and four star hotels as well as convention centres with a seating capacity of not less than 3,000 located in the NCR of Delhi. Presenting the General Budget 2007-08 in the Lok Sabha today, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram proposed similar tax concessions.....

Relief to tax payers, allocation up on social sectors, agriculture

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) While leaving unaltered rates of personal Income Tax, Finance Minister P Chidambaram in his Budget 2007-08 today hiked the threshold limit of exemption in case of all assessees, eliminated Income Tax surcharge on smaller firms, gave sops to small scale industry and small service providers, duty reductions on host of consumer goods and substantially hiked allocations for agriculture and social sectors. In a budget directed at 'Aam Aadmi' but lacking in substantial reform measures, Mr Chidambaram.....

Gas pipelines exempted from taxes

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) To encourage exploration activities and to help sustain the energy security of the country, the government today said pipelines carrying gas would get a tax exemption for 10 years. In his budget speech, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said the energy sector is high on the government's agenda. In the six rounds of New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP) so far, 162 production sharing contracts have been awarded. Indian and foreign companies have already made an investment.....
