Substantial increase in allocation to civil aviation

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) The Union Budget today proposed substantial increase in allocation for government-owned airlines.

The total allocation for all public sector enterprises under the civil aviation ministry including Air India, Indian and Airports Authority of India rose from Rs 2,256.36 crore to Rs 12,192.09 crore.

Most of it is meant for fleet acquisition plans of the two carriers.

French woman commits suicide in South Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) A 40-year-old French woman, married to an Indian, committed suicide in her South Delhi home here today. Police said Anna Fatalgo, widowed almost a year ago, was found dead in her East Nizamuddin house at about 1700 hrs. SC to decide fate of reservation policy tomorrow

New Delhi, March 6 (UNI) The Supreme Court will decide tomorrow the fate of the government's decision of providing 27.5 per cent reservation to OBCs seeking admission to educational institutions from the academic session 2007-2008. A Bench, comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and S H Kapadia, will decide whether to stay the notification granting reservation to OBCs in educational institutions till the final disposal of a batch of petitions challenging the government notification. Kota, Mar 6 (UNI) A rape convict, who escaped from the central prison here in November last, has been arrested by the police in Jhalawar district. According to the police, the convict, Prince, was serving a life term at the Kota Central Jail. Pleading illness, he got admitted at the prisoner's ward in MBS Hospital on November 26.
