Police challenges Gawli's bail order in session court

Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) The city police today challenged bail order of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli in the session court, which was earlier passed by the lower court in a fund misappropriation case.

The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of city police had arrested Gawli for fund misappropriation of his union Akhil Bharatiya Sena (ABS).

They said the fund was supposed to be distributed among the union members. Gawli had allegedly deposited Rs 85 lakh in his Shiv Shambu charitable trust instead of distributing the mony among the union members.

He was produced before a Metropolitan Magistrate, who released him on bail.

Challenging the bail order, the investigating agency has stated that releasing Gawli on bail on the first day of remand by the Metropolitan magistrate is bad in law. The court should atleast give some time to the investigating agency for the investigation.

Now the matter will come up for hearing before Additional Session Court Judge P D Vishwashrao on March Eight.
