Outsourcing,talent management-buzzword of global business:experts

Kolkata, Feb 28 (UNI) There is a need to build a long term strategy for human resource development to remain competitive in the global market by giving priority to outsourcing and talent management, IBM Global Services Pvt Ltd partner Prithwis Mukherjee today said.

Speaking at a seminar on '' Enabling Excellence,'' organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here, Dr Mukherjee said with the rapidly changing global business environment, it is essential to re-train and re-equip the organisations' manpower for the challenges that the global economy holds out for corporates and firms in India.

" Increased competition and changing requirements have led to the review of traditional practices for developing newer alternative strategies emphasising on outsourcing and talent management,'' Dr Mukherjee said.

He said in today's world it makes more sense than ever for business to outsource much of their work as almost every country and every organisation is outsourcing a part of its task or some tasks.

Referring to the optimal utilisation of talents, Dr Mukherjee said it requires a nimble organisation with the expertise and resources to identify talent needs and decide whether to meet them from within or draw them from outside.

"It is not an exaggeration to say that the future belongs to business that can weave talent and strategy into a seamless whole and in the process build an organisation with not only optimised performance but also with a significant competitive advantage,'' he observed.

" When people do jobs that just do not suit their liking, inclination or temperament the results, or rather the lack of them will be disastrously obvious and low productivity, dissatisfaction, low morale, absenteeism and other negative behaviours will become typical,'' Dr Mukherjee maintained.
