O Ibobi Singh re-elected CLP leader

Imphal, Feb 28 (UNI) Mr Okram Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur, was today re-elected the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).

A meeting of the CLP was held this evening at the Congress office. It was attended by the newly elected MLAs, and AICC General Secretary Oscar Fernandes.

The Congress party will soon stake claim to form the next government.

MPCC president Gaikhangam proposed the name of Mr Ibobi Singh and senior Congress leaders Th Devendra and Phungzathang Tonsing seconded it.

Mr Gaikhangam said Mr Singh was the unanimous choice and hoped that under his leadership the state will remain united.

The newly elected CLP leader thanked the people for supporting the Congress. He said talks will be held with the CPI on the government formation and added that the party had already assured to support the Congress-led government. Other parties have also decided to support the Congress, he added.

Lobsang Chudup adjudged Arunachal idol

Itanagar, Mar 2 (UNI) Lobsang Chudup of Tawang was declared the Arunachal Idol in the 'Voice of Arunachal' pageant at a glittering function at Siddhartha Hall here last evening. In tune with the Sony TV famed Indian Idol, as many as 1,980 contestants competed from 16 districts and as many as 11 contests were organised. Samjhauta blasts cast shadow on 'Dron' shooting

Bikaner, Mar 3 (UNI) The shooting of Bollywood film 'Dron' starring Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra has been stopped following the blasts on Samjhauta Express recently. The Railway Ministry has denied permission for the film unit to shoot a sequence on Gajner-Lalgarh track in view of the recent blasts and as a precautionary measure. The film is being directed by director Goldie Behl. Some action scenes were supposed to have been filmed on the train roof on this particular track but.....
