Naxals kill one in Gadchiroli

Nagpur, Feb 28 (UNI) Naxalites killed a 40-year old man, suspecting him to be a police informer, in Gadchiroli district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra in the wee hours today.

A group of 25 to 30 armed Naxalites went to the house of Patali Pandu Zore, a farmer, in village Tambda in Etapalli tehsil of the district and dragged him to a nearby bore-well at gunpoint. They then stabbed him on the throat, chest and stomach with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot, a release by the police said.

Police teams have been sent into the area to carry out a search operation.

This is the second in the last 15 days that Naxalites have killed a person from the same village, the release said adding that Naxalites had killed five people in Gadchiroli district this year, and 39 last year.

Tripura resents Rail Budget

The Budget is disappointing: Nitish

Patna, Feb 28 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today described the Union Budget as ''disappointing'' saying that the most sought ''special package'' has not been given to the state. Mr Kumar told newspersons here that the people of Bihar were frustrated with the budget of the UPA government as no new project had been earmarked for the state. He said instead of according special category to Bihar, it has been placed in the list of the states selected for Backward.....

Opposition walkout from Assembly over BPL list

Patna, Feb 28 (UNI) The irregularities in Below Poverty Line (BPL) list rocked Bihar Assembly following a ruckus created by the Opposition on the issue which finally announced to boycott the proceedings during the post lunch session and staged a noisy walkout of the House. As soon as the House assembled for the day, RJD member Shyam Rajak tried to draw the Chair's attention to his adjournment motion.
