Moser Baer in silicon sourcing tie-up with Deutsche Solar

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Moser Baer India Ltd today said its wholly-owned subsidiary Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd (MBPV) has tied up with Germany's Deutsche Solar for supply of silicon wafers.

''This arrangement will ensure that we have an assured supply of silicon wafers of top quality at competitive prices,'' MBPV Chief Executive Officer Ravi Khanna said.

The discussions for this contract had started last year with Deutsche Solar, one of the leading global silicon wafer manufacturers, and part of the Germany-based Solar World AG Group.

With this agreement, the company has secured over 50 per cent of its short to medium term requirement of silicon, Mr Khanna added.

MBPV plans to clearly straddle multiple future technologies and emerge as an engineering and technology driven company.

It is decisively responding to the rapidly expanding solar PV market, where worldwide demand for outstrips supply.

MBPV is developing a sustainable competitive edge by investing into disruptive technologies, Mr Khanna said.
