Husband garrottes wife for dowry

Gorakhpur, Feb 28 (UNI) A woman was allegedly strangled by her husband and in-laws in this district of Uttar Pradesh today.

Seema (23), married to Sanjay Singh of Indra Nagar colony, was constantly harassed for dowry.

Seema was garrotted by Sanjay and family members after she failed to satify their demands, police said.

The body has been sent for autopsy and investigations are on.

Raisen, MP, Feb 28 (UNI) As many as 4,000 opium saplings were seized today from a farm at Devri, about 140 km from this district headquarters, by Central Narcotics Bureau sleuths and a peasant arrested, CNB sources said. Bhaiyyalal Dhakad was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The sleuths came here from Mandsaur and took the accused with them without the knowledge of the local police. Hyderabad, Feb 28 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested Branch Manager of Nagarjuna Grameena bank in Agmotkur village in Nalgonda district on corruption charges. Budget will not help MP in any special way: Chouhan

Bhopal, Feb 28 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that the Union Budget for 2007-08 was unlikely to benefit this state in any special way. ''Inflation will spurt and the benefit of development will not percolate to all sections and areas. The Budget imposed export duty on iron as per the Hoda Committee's recommendation but turned Nelson's eye on other recommendations such as enhancing royalty on coal, thereby not paying attention to coal-producing states including Madhya Pradesh,''.....
