Housing Corporation official arrested on corruption charges

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) Sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) today caught red handed B Madhava Rao, Work Inspector of AP Housing Corporation at Pondur section in Srikakulam district when he accepted Rs 600 as bribe from the complainant.

The ACB officials recovered the tainted amount from the accused and arrested him.

Mr Rao would be produced before the Special Judge for ACB cases, Visakhapatnam, an official release said here.

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Assembly today adopted a resolution congratulating Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for the 'pro-poor budget' even as it asked for additional funds for projects in the state. However, the House plunged into pandemonium with the Opposition demanding scrapping of the sentence lauding the Minister. They wanted a sentence protesting the 'negligence meted out to the state'. Infant's body found in garbage dump

Madurai, Feb 27 (UNI) A body of an infant was found in a garbage dump in the city here today. Police said the body of the two-day-old infant, with the umbilical chord, was found in the garbage dump by a conservancy worker. The body was recovered and a case was registered, police added. UNI.....

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh CPI(M) Secretary and Polit Buro member B V Raghavulu today called off his five-day indefinite hunger strike in the presence of the state Social Welfare Minister Redya Naik and the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leader T Devendar Goud. After the state government conceded his demands on welfare of Scheduled Castes (SCs) in the state, the CPI(M) leader decided to end his agitation. The minister and the TDP leader offered a glass of juice.....

History-sheeter hacked to death

SWR's Hubli division records 11.96 pc growth

Hubli, Feb 27 (UNI) The Hubli division of the South Western Railway (SWR) has achieved a growth of 11.96 per cent till January end, according to Divisional Railway Manager Rakesh Vatash. Revealing this information at the ninth divisional level Railway Users' Consultative Committee meet here today, he said the total originating earnings of Hubli division stood at Rs 1,965.72 crore, compared to Rs 1,465.91 crore during the last corresponding period.
