Haryana attracts Rs 50,000 cr investment: Hooda

Chandigarh, Feb (UNI) The Haryana government has attracted an investment of Rs 50,000 crore during the past two years, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said today.

As compared to this, a sum of Rs 40,000 crore was invested in the state from November 1966 to March 2005, he said while addressing mediapersons at Bhiwani.

The Chief Minister said a sum of Rs 15,000 crore had been invested in the state while projects costing Rs 35,000 crore were in the pipeline.

The planned budget for the state would be doubled during the coming financial year, he added.

Referring to the power situation in the state, Mr Hooda said efforts were on to generate sufficient power to meet the growing demand of power.

The Chief Minister said to ensure equal distribution of water in the state, BML Hansi-Butana Multipurpose Canal and Dadupur-Nalvi Canal were being constructed.

Hansi-Butana Canal would be ready by November this year while work on Dadupur-Nalvi Canal was in full swing.

India Cements merges associate co with itself

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) India Cements Ltd today said it will merge Visaka Cement Industry Ltd (VCIL), an associate company with an annual capacity of 1.2 million tonnes, with itself. Post the merger, India Cements will be one of the top cement companies in India and will have a total capacity of around 12 million tonnes. As per the arrangement, one equity share of Rs 10 in the company will be issued to VCIL's shareholders for every five equity.....

Inflation to be brought down to 4-5 pc: Chidambaram

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) The government is confident of bringing down inflation to the ''tolerance level'' of 4-5 per cent, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said today. Letter of Acceptance issued for two highways projects in T'Nadu

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued Letters of Acceptance (LoAs) for two projects for development of National Highways sections in Tamil Nadu under Phase-IIIA of the National Highways Development Project (NHDP). The design, engineering, finance, construction, operation and maintenance of these packages, covering a total length of 118 km, would be carried out on the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis. The concession period for these packages is 30 years, including construction period of 30.....
