Four killed in two separate road accidents

Agartala, Feb 28 (UNI) Four people were killed in two separate road mishaps at Nutan Bazar and Silachari in the state's South district.

A truck carrying four people from Bairagi Doken met with an accident at Bhulanathpara, about 14 km from Nutan Bazar police station. The truck fell into a gorge killing three people on spot.

Four others were seriously injured, police sources said.

The trio were identified as Kaldhan Chakma(35), Man Kumar Chakma(35), Usha Ranjan Tripura(30). More than 32 passengers also sustained injuries. However, they were released after primary treatment.

In another incident, a child (Swarnamala Tripura) from tribal origin, was killed by a speedy bus at Annabandhu para in Silacheri. The incident occurred at about 1000 hours, when the bus was taking a turn.

HC clears 'Nishabd' for release tomorrow

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today refused to ban the release of Bollywood film director Ram Gopal Varma's Amitabh Bachchan starrer "Nishabd" slated for release Friday. Keonjhar bandh to protest attack on Congress MLA

Bhubaneswar, Feb 28 (UNI) A dawn to dusk bandh was observed in Keonjhar district of Orissa today to protest the attack on Congress MLA from Champua Dhanurjaya Sidhu near Badbil on Monday night. The bandh, called by the Congress, paralysed normal life in some places in the district but no untoward incidents were reported. The Congress had also observed ''Badbil bandh'' yesterday. Indian Judiciary 'Absolutely Free' : Law Minister

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Judiciary in India is absolutely free and the Law and Justice Ministry has no say in its functioning, a visiting Afghan delegation was told today. Law and Justice Minister Hans Raj Bhardwaj also informed the 11-member delegation led by Afghanistan's Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ghulam Farooq Wardak that criminal justice is the responsibility of the Home Affairs Ministry.
