CRPF officer among three killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 28 (UNI) A Sub inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and an employee of Power Development Department (PDD) have died in the Kashmir valley overnight, a police spokesman said.

He said a CRPF Sub-Inspector Dhasarathan S was admitted to Sher- e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at Bemina this morning where he died.

He said police has started proceedings under section 174 Cr PC.

The dead body of Sona Najar, a resident of Mujipathri Nallah, Frastwar was recovered at Khansahib in the central Kashmir district of Budgam.

He said a casual labour Mohammad Ashraf Dar of the PDD was electrocuted when he was working at electric transformer at Tangmarg in north Kashmir this morning.

A robber convicted in 1999 robbery case

Mumbai, Mar 1 (UNI) A local court today convicted a person to seven-years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) in a robbery case of 1999. NCP's 4 ZP and 9 PS candidates elected unopposed

Sangli, Maharashtra, Mar 2 (UNI) The Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) four candidates of Zilla Parishad (ZP) and nine Panchayat Samiti (PS) were elected unaopposed in Sangli district after the end of nominations withdrawal here today. The unopposed candidates are from Tasgaon tehsil, the home constituency of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil. Marathi encyclopedia's 18th edition to be published soon

Kolhapur, Mar 2 (UNI) The 'Marathi Vishwakosh (Encyclopedia) Nirmitee Mandal' has undertaken the work of bringing out 18th edition of the Marathi encyclopedia. An announcement to this effect was made by Mandal President Dr Vijaya Wad today where she told reporters that the 17th edition of the 893-page Marathi encyclopedia, comprising of 783 entries, around 300 black and white and colour photographs and 44 photo - letters prepared by the Mandal, was released by Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on February.....
