Court takes cognizance against Kanti Singh

Sasaram, Feb 28 (UNI) A local court took cognizance against Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries Kanti Singh and two officers in connection with a case relating to solemnising of child marriage and directed them to appear before it on March 7.

A Judicial Magistrate of Bikramganj sub-divisional court Ram Narain Ram yesterday took cognizance of the case which was filed by JD(U) leader Rajeshwar Raj on December 18, 2004, alleging that a child marriage was solemnised at the residence of then sub-divisional officer of Vikramganj on the directive of Ms Singh.

Countrywide BIS raids at 20 location in 8 states

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has conducted raids at 20 locations across eight states against firms misusing the ISI mark without a valid license. The raids carried out yesterday in Delhi, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and Assam were against firms manufacturing packaged drinking water, gas stoves, cement, plywood, PVC insulated cables and GLS lamps, the BIS said today. Industry urges Government for more fund allocation on infrastructure

Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) Welcoming the increase in the allocation of fund for the infrastructure development, the industry has urged the Central Government to allocate more funds on the infrastructure development. Goldsmith robbed of Rs 15 lakh on bus

Hardoi, Feb 28 (UNI) A goldsmith was robbed of Rs 15 lakh by four youths aboard an Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus here today. The incident took place near a community health centre in Sandila area, where the miscreants stopped the bus and snatched Rs 15 lakh and jewellery worth several lakhs from Sardar Awatar Singh, a native of Amritsar.
