Cong defeat in Punjab may be due to price rise: Hooda

Chandigarh, Feb 28 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said price rise could be the reason behind the defeat of the Congress in the assembly elections in Punjab.

''Price rise may be reason behind the Congress defeat. However, an analysis is being done at the party level to go into the reasons for defeat,'' Mr Hooda said while taking to reporters in Bhiwani.

He said despite the defeat, the Congress vote share in Punjab had increased by three-and-a-half per cent.

Maoist leader surrenders

Mahaboobnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 11 (UNI) A Top Maoist leader today surrendered before the District Superintendent of Police here. According to police Special Guerilla Squad Deputy Commander and District Committee Member Maddila Narasimha alias Bhaskar went underground in 1997 and worked in several Maoist groups in Mahaboonagar and Prakasham Districts before surrendering due to unfair treatment meted out to him by the Dalam members. District Superintendent of Police Charu Sinha said Narasimha would be rehabilitated as per rules. She appealed.....

DMK to stage slogan shouting demonstration tomorrow

Chennai, Mar 11 (UNI) The ruling DMK will stage a "slogan shouting" demonstration here tomorrow condemning the Sri Lankan navy force for their continious attack against the Indian fishermen.
