CBI files application to record statement of Koli

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) today filed an application before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in a city court for recording the confessional statement of Surender Koli, accused in the infamous Nithari killings.

Koli was sent to the custody of local police, Ghaziabad from December 29, 2006 to January 11, 2007 and there after in CBI custody since January 11, 2007.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate(ACMM) Kamini Lau directed the investigating officer of CBI that the accused Koli be handed over to the Director General(Prisons), Tihar, after conducting the medical examination and to be kept in some secluded place which may be a solitary ward, where it shall be insured that he does not mix up with any person and all necessary arrangements would be made by the prison authorities to ensure the safety and security of Koli.

Kamini Lau gave a personal hearing to Koli in her chamber and directed the authorities to produce Koli on March 1, 2007 at 1300 hrs after conducting his medical examination.

SC to pronounce verdict tomorrow on PIL in Mulayam assets

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) The Supreme Court will pronounce tomorrow its verdict on a PIL seeking CBI inquiry into the huge assets, allegedly acquired through corrupt means, of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family members. A bench headed by Justice A R Lakshmanan which also includes Justice Altamas Kabir will decide the issue whether a CBI inquiry as demanded by the petitioner Vishwanath Chaturvedi is called for. Challan against accused in Kashmir fake encounter killings

Srinagar, Feb 28 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police today presented a 'challan' in a local court here against Special Operation Group (SOG) officials in connection with the fake encounter killings in the Valley. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police produced the 'challan' in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) this afternoon. Bailable warrant against ACP Delhi in Shramjivi blast case

Jaunpur, Feb 28 (UNI) A court today issued a bailable warrant against the 14th witness ACP, Delhi, in the Patna-New Delhi Shramjivi Express bomb blast case here. The July 28, 2005 blast near Singramau railway station here had killed at least 14 people and wounded 90 others.
