Budget would ensure social justice and economic growth: PMK

Puducherry, Feb 28 (UNI) Welcoming the Central budget presented by the Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram in Parliament today, PMK Parliamentary party leader M Ramadass said it would ensure social justice and economic growth.

In a statement here, Professor Ramadass said the budget would suit the prevailing scenerio in the country and would resolve problems.

CPI National Council member R Viswanathan in a statment here lauded the budget and said efforts would be taken to curb tax evasion and prices of essential commodities to tide over scarcity.

Kerala to appoint permanent commission for creamy layer

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 28 (UNI) The Kerala government today decided to constitute a permanent commission to oversee the creamy layer issue in job and educational reservations and for filing a review petition in the Supreme Court in the light of the apex court nullifying the K K Narendran Commission's recommendations that looked into the matter. Convicts seek retrial

Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) A group of 68 convicts in the 1993 serial bomb blasts case today moved the TADA court here, seeking a retrial and review of their cases. In their application, Zakir Hussain and 67 other convicts claimed that the members of the Memon family, who had allegedly masterminded the blasts, cine star Sanjay Dutt and other bomb planters were the prime accused involved in the case.
