Budget session of Kerala Assembly to begin on Mar 2

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 28 (UNI) The Budget Session of the Kerala Assembly will commence on March 2 with the customary address by the Governor.

Informing this to newspersons here today, Assembly Speaker K Radhakrishnan said the Budget for the Financial year 2007-08 and the Vote on Account for the first four months of the next fiscal would be presented on March 9.

The fourth session of the 12th Legislative Assembly would have 20 days sitting, mostly devoted to financial matters. Some of the important pending bills numbering 23 would come up for discussion in the House.

He said there would be a three-day discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor's Address from March five. Discussion and voting on final supplementary demands for grants in the budget for the year 2006-07 would be taken up on March eight.

The general discussion on the Budget would be held for three days from March 12. The discussion and voting on Vote on Account would take place on March 19.

He said a few reports of the Assembly Committees would also be taken up for discussion in the House.

Total revenue receipts expected to be Rs 486,422 crore

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) The total revenue receipts of the Central Government is estimated to be Rs 486,422 crore and the revenue expenditure at Rs 557,900 crore, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said while presenting the 2007-08 budget proposal in the Lok Sabha today. Tax holiday for undertakings in J

Annual GDP growth rate projected at 9.2 per cent

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) The government today projected the GDP growth rate at 9.2 per cent in 2006-2007 and expressed commitment to enhance savings and investment to put the economy on a higher trajectory.
