Bailable warrant against ACP Delhi in Shramjivi blast case

Jaunpur, Feb 28 (UNI) A court today issued a bailable warrant against the 14th witness ACP, Delhi, in the Patna-New Delhi Shramjivi Express bomb blast case here.

The July 28, 2005 blast near Singramau railway station here had killed at least 14 people and wounded 90 others.

The court ordered a bailable warrant of Rs 2,000 against ACP Delhi Sanjeev Yadav after he did not turn up for the hearing.

The court ordered the Delhi police commissioner to send the ACP on March 8, which it fixed as next hearing of the case.

The Tihar jail administration has been ordered to present another witness Anisul Mosmil alias Sami, who is presently lodged in the jail. Besides, the court has summoned the 16th and 17th witnesses to appear on the next date of hearing.

There are 48 witnesses in the case, out of which 13 have given their testimony.

Earlier in the day, the accused Obaid-ur-Rehman, Hilal-ud-din and Nafikul appeared before Additional District and Sessions Judge (III) Rajendra Chandra amid tight security.

The last hearing of the case took place on February 14.

Chargesheet against the accused had already been filed under CrPC sections 148, 307, 302 and 120 B, Explosive Substance Act section 3/4, Railway Act section 150, 151 and Foreigners Act section 14.

Two other accused Mohd Sharif alias Sirajuddin of Bangladesh and Mohd Roni are absconding, while Dr Sayeed is yet to be traced.

Another accused Ghulam Rajdani alias Pahiya was killed in a police encounter.

In May last, year Hilal-ud-din and Nafikul were brought here from Cherallapalli Central Jail, Andhra Pradesh, under a warrant, while Obaid-ur-Rehman, a Bangladeshi, was brought from Murshidabad, West Bengal.

Man attempts immolation outside Raj Bhawan; saved by scribes

Lucknow, Feb 28 (UNI) A 70-year-old man today attempted self immolation outside Raj Bhawan even as Chief Election Commissioner was holding a meeting with political parties on the high security premises. However, timely intervention by journalists standing outside to cover the event saved his life. He was detained by police and rushed to the nearest police station for questioning. A robber convicted in 1999 robbery case

Mumbai, Mar 1 (UNI) A local court today convicted a person to seven-years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) in a robbery case of 1999. Pronoucing the judgement, Additional Session Court Judge S P Davare said accused Vijay Tambe was held guilty in a robbery case of 1999, he have to undergo RI for seven-years and pay fine of Rs 500 or in default he will have to undergo further RI for 15-days. NCP's 4 ZP and 9 PS candidates elected unopposed

Sangli, Maharashtra, Mar 2 (UNI) The Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) four candidates of Zilla Parishad (ZP) and nine Panchayat Samiti (PS) were elected unaopposed in Sangli district after the end of nominations withdrawal here today. The unopposed candidates are from Tasgaon tehsil, the home constituency of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil.
