Action plan in MP to rein in dengue, chikungunya

Bhopal, Feb 27 (UNI) In order to prevent dengue and chikungunya from spreading in Madhya Pradesh, a decision has been taken to set up control room in the state capital besides rapid emergency centres in various districts.

Health Commissioner Rajesh Rajora said 60,000 chikungunya and 212 dengue case were registered in the state last year. Necessary steps were being taken to prevent these diseases from spreading.

A control room was being set up at the Jaiprakash Hospital in the state capital to collect information on vector-borne diseases -- including dengue and chikungunya -- in various states.

Senior health officials will regularly monitor information sent by Chief Medical and Health Officers of various districts in this regard.

Besides, training will be imparted to anganvadi workers and other field staff on monitoring the fever. A separate record will be maintained for patients with symptoms of dengue and chikungunya. It will be necessary to provide information at the district-level or community health centre in this regard.

Dr Rajora said Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Rewa and Gwalior had been selected as sentinel surveillance centre for identification of patients with the symptoms of dengue and chikungunya.

Medical examination, pathological test and treatment facilities will be provided at these centres. On finding symptoms, these centre will inform concerned CMHOs and initiative will be taken within 24 hours to control the disease.

For controlling mosquitoes, entomological teams had been constituted which will launch regular campaigns to find and destroy larvae. These teams will train multi-purpose employees at village-level in finding and destroying larvae during their visit to rural areas.

In urban areas, regular meetings of municipal corporations, municipality and nagar panchayat will be held.

MIAL awards contract for duty free retail to Aldeasa ITDC JV

Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) Mumbai International Airport Private Limited (MIAL) has awarded the duty free retail contract for Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), Mumbai, to the Aldeasa-ITDC joint venture. During the three-year contract MIAL is expected to get a revenue of Rs 571 crore. Aldeasa-ITDC, which will start operating the new Duty Free area from June one, was chosen from among five shortlisted bidders, all leaders in the global duty free industry. The others included DFS Group, the Nuance Group.....

CBI arrests IT official on corruption charges

Hyderabad, Feb 23 (UNI) The Sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested an Income Tax official of the city on bribery charges. The accused N Rambabu, an Assistant of the Income Tax Deparatment in the city was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe for processing the IT Return claims, a release said here. Two more bodies recovered from Arabian Sea

Jamnagar, Feb 27 (UNI) Two more bodies of the missing fishermen were brought to the shore by the fellow fishermen who saw the floating bodies off Jakhho in the Arabian Sea last night. Earlier on last Saturday, Coast Guard, engaged in the search operation of seven missing fishermen, had recovered the body of one of them at 16 nautical miles off Jakhho and handed it over to the relatives after completing legal formalities. Last night, the fishermen found two bodies.....
