W India sector on Paramount Airways' radar

Chennai, Feb 27 (UNI) Having almost saturated the South India sector, Paramount Airways is gearing up to enter the West India sector by the end of this year.

Talking to visiting newspersons at Madurai after the Airways launched the fourth flight connecting the temple town and Chennai yesterday, Paramount Managing Director M Thiagarajan said the airline would foray into the lucurative Western India sector either by the end of this year or early next year.

The airline is promoted by Paramount Group, a leading textile manufacturer based in Madurai.

With the existing fleet of five aircraft, Paramount was operating a whopping 1,500 flights a month, dominating the Southern India skies and providing ''absolute value for money,'' he claimed.

''We are on the verge of saturating South Indian sector and we want to repeat the same in the Western part of the country.

After launching our maiden flight by the end of this year, we hope to reach saturation point in West India by 2009 or early 2010,'' Mr Thiagarjan said.

The airline also proposed to purchase 15 new Embraer 195 aircraft in the next three years. It was currently using Embraer 170/75 aircraft, 'one of the most advanced and modern jets ever made, translating into exceptional passenger safety.' MORE UNI
