Two soldiers and a militant killed in north Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 27 (UNI) Two Rashtriya Rifles (RR) personnel and a militant were killed in a night-long operation in north Kashmir, a defence ministry spokesman said.

He said troops of 30 RR launched a search operation at Drangshu, Handwara, about 90 km from here in the frontier district of Kupwara last night.

He said after a long search, troops finally found militants at 2400 hours who were hiding there. When the militants were asked to surrender, they opened fire which was returned by the troops.

During the fierce encounter a militant and two soldiers were killed, he said adding one Ak rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

Yesterday troops killed two militants of Pakistan based Lashker-e Toiba (LeT) in the nearby forest area.

4 militants killed in encounter near LoC in JK

Lucknow, Feb 27 (UNI) Two dreaded Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists, who were behind the 2001 attack on CRPF camp in Delhi, fled from the civil court premises here today.
