Two persons killed in road mishap

Krishnagar, Feb 27 (UNI) At least two persons were killed and three others critically injured when a truck overturned near Gede on the Indo-Bangla border here.

Police was attributed the accident to the bad conditions of the roads.

According to sources, CPWD was carrying construction work of the road. However, the condition of the road deteriorated following sunday's downpour.

Driver of the truck, Bharat Biswas(29), died on the spot. The four labourers on board were rushed to the Krishnagar Zilla hospital, where one of them died, police added.

PCC plea to Pondy Govt on VAT

Puducherry, Feb 27 (UNI) The Puducherry Chamber of Commerce (PCC) today urged the administration to provide compensation to traders in the form of grant or subsidy for the levy of four per cent Central Sales Tax (CST) if the government introduced Value Added Tax (VAT). SC grants week's time for response to govt's new ads policy
