Ten years RI for three in shoe loot case

Patna, Feb 27 (UNI) A local court today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to three accused in connection with loot of truck load of shoes under Gardanibagh police station here on September 27, 2002.

Presiding officer of the fast track court K M Srivastav sentenced the three accused to imprisonment after they were found guilty in the case.

The accused had looted the shoes near women polytechnic when those were being transported from Digha to Kolkata.

Those sentenced were Kunal Chaudhary, Ashok Manjhi and Lamlesh Manjhi-all residents of Maulabagh locality in Patna.

CPI(M) leader ends indefinite hunger strike in AP

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh CPI(M) Secretary and Polit Buro member B V Raghavulu today called off his indefinite hunger strike after the state government conceded his demands on welfare of Scheduled Castes (SCs) in the state. The CPI(M) leader, also the Vice-President of the Committee to Fight Against Caste Discrimination, launched the hunger strike on February 23 at Indira Park here demanding the government to set up a nodal agency for the special component plan for SCs and conduct.....

Salem to be presented here on March 21

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) A local court today issued fresh production warrant of underworld don Abu Salem to Mumbai jail officials for March 21. The don, who was to be presented here today, will now be presented by Arthur Road Jail (Mumbai) officials on March 21. Salem, who is wanted in Delhi in three cases of extortion, could not be brought here following a Mumbai court directive after he moves a petition on health grounds. UNI.....

Kerala demands South-West Railway Zone

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 27 (UNI) Kerala today demanded the formation of a South-West Railway Zone for the development of railways in the region and also for a permanent solution to the outstanding demands of the state.
