TCS receives Qualcomm grant

Bangalore, Feb 27 (UNI) Leading developer and Innovator Qualcomm today announced a US dollar 100,000 grant to Tata Consultancy Services for development of applications to farmers and rural India using Code Division Multiple Access(CDMA) technology.

Qualcomm in a release said A TCS team of advanced technology and application would demonstrate how CDMA networks could help provide specific and useful advice to farmers and spread the benefits of technology deep into rural at an affordabal cost.

The TCS team headed by Dr Arun Pande had won the grant prize for their proposal from Qualcomm's BREW application funding programme.

As part of Qualcomm's wireless rech initiative US dollars one million Fund has been set up to increase the availability of useful wireless applicaitons in countries around the world, the release said.

It said for the grand prize Qualcomm would also apply additional funds to put TCS proposal into action through a new or existing wireless reach project.

Air Deccan suspends Delhi-Dehradun flights March one

Bangalore, Feb 27 (UNI) Low cost airline Air Deccan today announced supension of its Delhi-Dehradun flights from March one due to the closure of the Dehradun airport. Air Deccan in a releae here today said the Dehradun airport was being closed down for upgradation and development of runway and hence would not be available for operations, according to an announcement by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). 5,075 couples to enter into wedlock

Tirupati, Feb 21 (UNI) As many as 5,075 couples will enter into wedlock at the auspicious hour of 1154 hrs as the part of the free mass marriage scheme by Tirumala Tirupati devasthanam (TTD) at 294 places in the state tomorrow. UTI targets to net Rs 1000 crore from Gold Fund

Bangalore, Feb 27 (UNI) UTI Mutual Fund, which will be launching its Gold Exchange Traded Fund on March One, has targeted to raise between Rs 800 Crore to Rs 1000 Crore, UTI AMC Senior Vice President S Ganesh said today.
