SSC and HSC exams resheduled

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Feb 27 (UNI) The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations in Maharashtra, which were earlier scheduled to commence from March 8, and four papers of the HSC examinations, currently underway, have been rescheduled following the Zilla Parishad and the Panchayat Samiti elections.

The SSC examinations will now commence from March 13 while four papers of the HSC, which were clashing with the election dates, will now be conducted from March 14.

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education today submitted the new time-table for the examinations before the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court, comprising justices Naresh Patil and Ravindra Borde.

The revised time-table was submitted following a petition by Balasaheb Doke and Kachru Kachhve, guardians of students from Dhamangaon of Vaijapur in Aurangabad district, who had challenged the holding of the Zilla Parishad and the Panchayat Samiti elections during examinations.

The High Court had earlier on February 22, asked the Board, the State Election Commission and the state government to hold a joint meeting to sort out the issue.

The meeting was held in Mumbai on February 23, and the Board today submitted a revised time-table before the Aurangabad H C division bench.

HC asks Reliance Industries to deposit 10 cr

Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today asked Reliance Industries to deposit Rs 10 crore with the state exchequer towards the differential amount of stamp duty payable in respect of the deed of amalgamation of erstwhile Reliance Petrochemicals into Reliance Industries. The Superintendent of Stamps had issued a notice on January 23 asking the company to pay the differential amount of Rs 10 crore, persuant to an order of the revenue authorities passed on December 30, 2006. 6 arrested for flesh trade

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Feb 26 (UNI) A flesh trade racket was busted with the arrest of six persons, including four girls, during a police raid here. Assistant Commissioner of Police Eknath Budhwant said acting on a tip-off, the crime branch police raided a guest house located in city's posh Nirala Bazar locality late last evening after sending four dummy customers to the guest house.
