Speed Post network extends to 25 towns

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Speed Post service will be extended to 25 more towns in the national network from March 1, aiming to provide more convenience to the customers.

The new speed post centres include 12 in Tamil Nadu, six each in Haryana and Karnataka and one in West Bengal.

All these centres will be fully computerised and will have 'Speednet' online tracking system in place. Apart from operations, these centres will have customer service centre and speed post business office to manage the entire service in a professional manner.

Speed Post revenue crossed Rs 408 crore during 2005-06 and in the current fiscal, it is expected to go beyond Rs 450 crore.

With this, there are 211 speed post centres in the national network and more than 1,000 Centres in the state network.

Undertrial commits suicide in Bihar

Katihar, Feb 25 (UNI) An undertrial today committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the premises of divisional jail here. Police said three persons, aged around 35, had come to the restaurant of Ambarish Hotel at Ganeshguri area in the city here this evening and ordered two cups of tea and a glass of mango juice. Bomb blast in Mizoram minister's farm house

Aizawl, Feb 25 (UNI) A few unidentified miscreants had lobbed a bomb on the residence of state health minister R Tlanghimgthanga at Sakawrtuichhun, near here, yesterday, Mizoram police said today. The blast had caused panic in the nearby localities and power supply was disrupted as a transformer carrying 11 KV line was damaged extensively, police said.
