Smiths Aerospace opens development centre in TN

Chennai, Feb 27 (UNI) Smiths Aerospace, part of the global technology business major Smiths Group, today opened its dedicated development centre in the city in partnership with HCL Technologies.

The development centre followed an agreement signed between the two companies under which HCL would provide resources and management at the Centre with 60 professionals for engineering services.

The headcount would be trebled to about 180 in 18 months time, Mr Ramesh Pillai, Head, Aerospace and Automotive Practices, HCL America, told reporters.

The Centre was inaugurated by Smiths Aerospace Vice-President Supply Chain Mike Taylor at the Ambattur Industrial Estate here.

The Centre was set up in a dedicated area in the HCL's existing facility.

Mr Taylor said the tie up with HCL would result in time, cost and quality benefits expected from a successful sourcing business.

Mr Pillai said this was another key win for HCL in the aerospace sector and reiterated its leadership position in offering mission critical software, hardware and mechanical engineering services.

Battery operated scooters rolled out

Chennai, Feb 27 (UNI) The city-based Kabirdas Motor Company launched four models of environmental friendly zero emission non-polluting scooters here last night. XITE-K101 LA, XITE-K100 LA, XITE K15 SI and Arrow, a series of vehicles, would operate on battery-generated energy. Talking to newspersons, Director Murali Kabirdass said the XITE series would cater to the needs of those concerned about environmental pollution". The XITE's three variants and Arrow were manufactured with state-of-the-art technology. The XITE-K101 is of 250 Watts and weighs 120.....

Non-toxic mosquito repellent spray launched

Chennai, Feb 27 (UNI) Leading agro-chemical manufacturing and marketing company Ramcides Chemicals launched 'Stop', a toxic compound-free mosquito repellent spray. Talking to newspersons, Managing Director R Padmanabhan said 'Stop' was a unique and effective 'Aerosol Spray', used exclusively by Indian Army utill recently. "Ramicides takes pride in introducing it for the first time in the country, without any toxic compound in a healthy way", he claimed. "Stop, unlike other mosquito repellent sprays, does not contain any harmful pesticides", he said adding.....

ISB, Helios and Matheson sign pact

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) Indian School of Business (ISB) today signed a partnership with Helios and Matheson, a leading healthcare IT services company, to promote 'Global Social Venture Competition' (GSVC). A company release here quoted ISB Deputy Dean Ajit Rangnekar as saying 'we are excited to partner with Helios and Matheson as we share the same ideology.'
