Silver eases, gold steady

Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) Spot silver eased by Rs five per kg on thin buying support while gold remained steady on moderate demand today, at the Bombay Bullion Exchange, Silver fineness opened high at Rs 20,745 per kg on better buying support. Later, it declined and closed at Rs 20,695 per kg with a loss of Rs five from its yesterday's close.

In London, the white metal also fell to 14.57/14.60 per troy ounce against USD 14.62/14.65 per troy ounce in New York.

However, standard gold (99.5) and pure gold (99.9) opened upwards at Rs 9,830 and Rs 9,880 per ten gm on reduced stock supplies.

The yellow metal moved downwards and closed at yesterday's level of Rs 9,820 and Rs 9,865 per ten gm.

In London, the yellow metal went up at USD 676.80/679.00 per troy ounce as compared to USD 683.40/685.30 per troy ounce in New York on Monday.

Following are the spot silver and gold closing prices: Silver (per kg) .999 grade : Rs 20,695 (20,700), Gold (per 10 gm): Standard mint 99.5 purity : Rs 9,820 (9,820), Pure gold 99.9 purity : Rs 9,865 (9,865).

NMCE launches new series for futures trade in base metals

Ahmedabad, Feb 27 (UNI) Futures trading in new series of aluminum, copper, lead, nickel, tin and zinc would begin on March one at the National Multi-Commodity Exchange (NMCE). The new series will expire on May 31, a release issued here today said. These non-ferrous metals are at present traded in different monthly contracts on NMCE terminals, up to three months in advance, each expiring on the last trading day of respective calendar month. Rupee opens flat at 44.21/22 against USD

Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) The Rupee today closed steady at 44.21/22 per US dollar against 44.20/21, the previous day's close, on scattered demand of dollar by foreign banks. The Indian Rupee was steady against the dollar on Tuesday with gains from capital inflows blocked by scattered Central Bank intervention in a bid to protect exporters' competitiveness, traders said. Later, the partially convertible Rupee fluctuated between 44.15/16 and 44.23/25 per dollar during the intra day trades. Traders said capital inflows.....
