School kids held hostage briefly

Chhatarpur, MP, Feb 27 (UNI) A total of 19 students of a private primary school at Chithahari village in this district were held hostage at gunpoint briefly by an absconding criminal to force the villagers to change their statement against him.

Police said Virpal, who was evading arrest since he was made an accused in the murder of Bhagwan Das Rajput at Bhidka village in March last year, held the children in captivity at the class room after forcing the teacher to move out yesterday.

Threatening the children and teacher with a country-made pistol, he demanded the villagers change their statement against him, claiming he was innocent.

However, Virpal after a few hours surrendered before the police who reached the village in the evening on a tip-off by the villagers, police said.

Police challenges Gawli's bail order in session court

Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) The city police today challenged bail order of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli in the session court, which was earlier passed by the lower court in a fund misappropriation case. The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of city police had arrested Gawli for fund misappropriation of his union Akhil Bharatiya Sena (ABS). They said the fund was supposed to be distributed among the union members. Gawli had allegedly deposited Rs 85 lakh in his Shiv Shambu charitable trust instead.....

HC directs SEC to consider exempting teachers

HC refers dispute between Jet and Sahara to arbitrator

Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today referred a dispute to an arbitrator on the failed takeover bid of Sahara Airlines by Jet Airways, whereby they were seeking to recover Rs 500 crore from Sahara Airlines. Observing that there is a clause of arbitration in the agreement between the two Airline companies, Special court Judge D K Deshmukh disposed off the the suit filed by Jet Airways, seeking decree to recover Rs 500 crore from Sahara Airlines and referred.....
