SAD-BJP combine ahead in 31, Congress leading in 16 seats

Chandigarh, Feb 27 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)-BJP combine forged ahead in 31 seats while the ruling Congress was leading in 16 constituencies, according to trends available for 48 seats in the Punjab assembly polls.

Prominent among those ahead were Chief Minister Amarinder Singh (Patiala) SAD chief Parkash Singh Badal(Lambi), Former SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur (SAD) lost the Bholath seat.

Leaders trailing were Tourism Minister Jagmohan Singh Kang (Morinda) and Local Bodies minister Chaudahary Jagjit Singh from Kartarpur (Reserve).

From Ludhiana (N) independent Mohan Lal Bagga was leading over nearest rival BJP's candidate.

Airlines plan to resist higher peak hour airport charges

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Airlines are up against the government's proposal to impose higher airport charges during peak hours in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. Senior executives from Air India, Jet Airways, Air Sahara, Kingfisher, SpiceJet, Air Deccan, IndiGo and GoAir will call on minister for civil aviation Praful Patel this week under the aegis of Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA) and take up issues relating to imposition of differential airport charges. Congress to field dead candidate's wife from Bajpur

Dehra Dun, Feb 27 (UNI) The Congress will field Ms Kailash Rani, wife of its deceased candidate for Bajpur assembly constituency Janakraj Sharma, from the seat. Sanyo lines up range of digicams
