Rs 4 lakh looted from retired govt employee's house

Anand, Feb 27 (UNI) Unknown persons have robbed Rs 4 lakh from the residence of a retired state government employee at Saghini village of Petlad taluka in the district.

Ramanbhai Barot, in a complaint to the Petlad rural police yesterday evening, said he came to know about the robbery yesterday.

He received Rs 40,000 from an investment in mutual funds and went to keep the amount in a cupboard. In which he had securely kept Rs 4 lakh of Rs 4.75 lakh retirement benefits, after spending Rs 75,000 on his daughter's marriage. Instead, he found stones and some books on gods and goddesses in it.

A robbery case has been registered and further investigations are on.

BMC license inspector trapped

Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) shop and establishment Inspector was trapped by ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) sleuths today while accepting a bribe of Rs 1000 from a canteen owner for renewal of his 'Gumasta' license. An ACB official said here that accused Hanumant Krishna Pawar, who was attached to Shop and Establishment department of the Corporation at N-ward in Ghatkopar, had allegedly demanded Rs 1000 from a canteen owner for renewal of the license.
