Rising GDP

Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) Indian Merchants Chamber (IMC) has strongly endorsed the statement made by Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram after tabling the Economic Survey in the Lok Sabha.

The government is determined to maintain the present rate of high momentum of GDP and GDI (Gross Domestic Investment), while simultaneously addressing the issue of inflation through supply side management, the Chamber said in a release issued here today. IMC President Nayan Patel said India can look forward to another year of high growth, as it will be able to reach the growth targets even at the start of the 11th Five-Year plans. He agreed with the survey's observation that inclusive growth didn't necessarily mean low growth.

He expressed his happiness over infrastructure sector recording a high rate of growth and thus attracting huge inflow of foreign funds.

2 killed after falling from bridge

Chhatarpur(MP), Feb 27 (UNI) A man and his wife were killed when they fell from a narrow bridge into the Ghasan river after their bicycle dashed against a speeding truck. The incident took place at Garouli village, 30 km from here, yesterday when Kanchedi Kushwaha and his wife Shanti were heading for Alampura village. While Kanchedi died on the spot, his wife died at the district hospital. There was no railing on the narrow bridge and such incidents were frequent, police.....

School kids held hostage

Chhatarpur(MP), Feb 27 (UNI) A total of 19 students of a private primary school at Chithahari village in this district were held hostage at gun point for few hours yesterday by an absconding criminal in order to force the villagers to change their statement against him. Police said Virpal, who was evading arrest since he was made an accused in the murder of Bhagwan Das Rajput at Bhidka village in March last year, held the children in captivity at the class.....

Complaint against CARE rating of Maheshwar project

Bhopal, Feb 27 (UNI) The Narmada Bachao Andolan has filed a complaint with the Securities Exchange Board of India against credit rating agency CARE for the rating of S Kumar's Shree Maheshwar Hydel Power Corporation's debentures for Rs 400 crore for violating SEBI norms. Talking to reporters here today, NBA spokesman Alok Agarwal said CARE issued Triple A rating to the proposed optionally fully convertible debentures (OFCD) in flagrant contravension of SEBI regulations since the CARE Chairman P V Narasimham is.....
