'Punjab, U'khand results pave way for third front'

Lucknow, Feb 27: Samajwadi Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today said the poll results of Punjab and Uttarakhand have stressed the need for a 'Third Front' in the country.

''With Congress clearly failing to stop BJP in these two states, now a demand for third front has again gained ground in the country,'' he added.

Talking to mediapersons, Mr Yadav though alleging that both the Congress and BJP were united against his government, said now it was high time for all the secular forces to unite against the two parties.

''Congress was only interested in toppling my government rather than making serious effort to defeat the communal forces,'' he added.

Mr Yadav said SP is prepared for the assembly polls in UP and claimed there is no challenge from the BJP or any other party in the seven phase assembly elections in the state.
