People have shown door to 'arrogant ruler': Sidhu

Amritsar, Feb 27 (UNI) Cricketer-turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu today said the people of the state had shown door to ''arrogant ruler'' Chief Minister Amarinder Singh according to the trends of the results in the Punjab assembly elections.

''The people have smashed the arrogance of the arrogant king,'' said Sidhu who is the BJP candidate from Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency.

The Akali Dal-BJP alliance has established lead in about 55 assembly constituencies while Congress was leading in about 35 seats.

Sidhu, who was leading by over 60,000 votes in Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency, said he would win by a record margin this time.

First result goes to Congress in Manipur

Imphal, Feb 27 (UNI) The Congress was the first party to open its account in Manipur with its president Gaikhangam re-elected from the 54 Nungba AC Assembly constituency. Mr Gaikhangam defeated his nearest rival Gangmumei Kamei (Independent) by a margin of 5000 votes. While Mr Gaikhangam polled 11,552 votes, his nearest rival Gangmumei bagged 5893.
