MTNL pays Rs 106 cr dividend to govt

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) State-owned MTNL today gave a cheque of Rs 106 crore to the government as an interim dividend for 2006-07 on a paid-up equity capital of Rs 630 crore .

''Our profits have went up to Rs 432 crore. The mobile revenues is up to Rs 599 crore from Rs 399 crore and the broadband revenues has witnessed a significant rise to Rs 140 crore from Rs 35 crore,'' MTNL CMD R S P Sinha told reporters.

We are expecting to add Rs 50 crore in our profits in the last quarter of the fiscal, Mr Sinha said adding that the growth trajectory will be maintained in future.

With a tele-density of 50-60 per cent in Delhi and Mumbai, the company added one million customers in both the metros during the nine months of 2006-07.

Communications and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran said that the company will take new initiatives in the broadband segment to add more customers.

He said that both BSNL and MTNL have been directed to work on 'fibre to home' and 'multiplay' tecnologies.

Logix acquires automotive portal business of PowerOne

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Software development company Logix Microsystems Ltd has acquired the automotive portal business of PowerOne Media, Carsite.com, for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition has been made through the company's US venture izmocars, which is a leading web solutions provider for automotive dealers and portals, a statement said today. Bharti clarifies 15% stake for Saudi mobile licence

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Bharti Airtel today said it is supporting the Saudi led consortium with a minority stake of 15 per cent for the Saudi Arabia's third mobile licence. Bharti had formed consortium with local partner 'Samawat' for the bid of GSM licence. Denying certain section of reports, the company today said its principal role will be to provide comprehensive management services including negotiation with vendors, roll out of networks, brand building and distribution, setting up management.....

Smiths Aerospace opens development centre in TN

Chennai, Feb 27 (UNI) Smiths Aerospace, part of the global technology business major Smiths Group, today opened its dedicated development centre in the city in partnership with HCL Technologies. The development centre followed an agreement signed between the two companies under which HCL would provide resources and management at the Centre with 60 professionals for engineering services. The headcount would be trebled to about 180 in 18 months time, Mr Ramesh Pillai, Head, Aerospace and Automotive Practices, HCL America, told reporters......
