Modi describes win in Punjab, Uttarakhand as ''Peoples verdict''

Ahmedabad, Feb 27 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today described Congress defeat in Punjab and Uttarakhand as ''peoples verdict'' against the poor governance of the party-led UPA government at the centre.

Mr Modi said people were totally disappointed by the UPA government's failure in tackling major issues confronting the general public.

He said ''it is a verdict against the central government's failure in checking inflation, vote bank politics and security of the masses and country''.

He said BJP's victory trend started from the recently concluded civic elections in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh.
